"With astonishing clarity Mark Travis articulates the techniques and skills of film directing. Not only does the beginning student findinvaluable guidance on all stages of the directing process, but the experienced director will learn rational explanations for many of the things he may have only been doing intuitively."
John Badham, director SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER, WAR GAMES, BLUE THUNDER
"Mark said the things I always wanted to hear as an actress, and taught me things I needed to know to be a director."
Jennie Garth, Actress-Producer-Director,Beverly Hills 90210
"Directing Feature Films" by Mark Travis is the second edition of Mark's #1 best-seller, "The Director's Journey". This insightful book takes the mystery out of directing. His refreshing approach enhances the reader's directing skills and helps them deliver powerful performances and well-conceived films. "A must read for any serious professional."
—Mark Rydell, Director, On Golden Pond
"I was immediately able to apply the principles learned in
his class when I began to direct …"
Jonathan Pontell, co-executive producer/director, ALLY McBEAL, CHICAGO HOPE
"An eye-opening description of the work that needs to be done before one frame is filmed."
Alejandro Ferreyra, Screenwriter Magazine
"It is rare to find a reference guide that has as its primary focus the director as a creative artist and visionary. For the experienced director, DIRECTING FEATURE FILMS is an invaluable reminder of why the journey was first undertaken; for the beginning director, it is a compass that will hopefully set the course for the rewarding explorations to follow."
Asaad Kelada, Director WHO'S THE BOSS, FAMILY TIES,
DHARMA AND GREG, EVERYBODY LOVES RAYMOND

A local actor who attended a couple of Mark's workshops recently has this to say:
I wanted to send a message out to my fellow AZ actors. I've worked with a number of you in Tucson and many of you know me. If you've worked with me before you know how much value I put in good training. I've come across a number of occasions where the training I've been blessed with has given me what I needed to give a good performance even in a difficult situation or to find a character that was very much unlike me and make it believable.
I've been very blessed to have been asked to be a featured actor (or guinea pig as Mark calls it) in two of Mark Travis' director's workshops and I have been amazed at the utterly brilliant system Mark uses and the shear breadth of knowledge of the man. He is among the best teachers I've encountered in this industry and I've studied with some very brilliant teachers. Mark is visiting us from LA but has been travelling around the world teaching his systems to eager audiences of actors and directors and I have had the honor to get to know him just a little in between classes. I find him to be a very sincere person with a self deprecating sense of humor but a well earned confidence in his skills. He has been involved in MAJOR productions (for crying out loud he even directed episodes of NBC's "Family Ties" and "The Facts of Life") and has worked with a number of Major celebrities you have heard of. His book on directing is required reading at a number of film schools and he has a very strong stage background (which is where he began in the arts), directing LA and off Broadway productions that gained him a ton of awards from organizations like Drama-Logue, L.A. Weekly, Drama Critics’ Circle, A.D.A and I believe the L.A. Stage alliance Ovation awards.
Check his website and look at his client list. That should say it all.

Now Mark is bringing his actor's boot camp to Tucson. I don't publicly endorse many teachers but one of the few I endorse is Mark Travis. I believe this man will teach you things you won't find anywhere else and you will grow rapidly as an actor in ways you wouldn't have imagined. The short tastes I've gotten of how his system can be applied to actors were profound indeed.
I'll leave it at this. If you have a budget for ongoing training this year and CAN get to the Actor’s Bootcamp classes (which sadly I cannot due to a previous engagement and I'm livid about it because I had been looking forward to the announcement for this class for months) get there. This is 3 days of classes directly with Mark for $150.00 that's $50.00 a class. That's 3 trips to the gas station if you have a truck. If you come prepared and ready to work I have very little doubt that you will find that your art will blossom in ways you hadn't imagined and you will learn to give a great performance for film or stage even when under the worst circumstances.
This would be a class very much worth putting on your resume in my opinion.
That's all I've got to say about that,
Cheers and God bless you,
